Conditions of Carriage of Senior Citizens

Transport Regulations 2000

Conduct of Passengers:

86. When a route bus is carrying passengers or waiting to pick up passengers, a passenger or intending passenger within the bus shall not-

  1. Smoke;
  2. use obscene or offensive language or conduct himself in a disorderly manner;
  3. enter or alight from or attempt to enter or alight from the bus otherwise than by the door or openings provided for that purpose;
  4. spit upon or from or willingly damage, soil or defile any part of the bus;
  5. wilfully remove, displace, deface or alter any number plate, notice board, fare-table, rate indicator or destination board or any notice or advertisement in or on the bus;
  6. when in the bus throw any bottle, liquid or litter or any article or anything likely to cause danger, injury or annoyance to any person or damage any property;
  7. enter or travel in a bus with petrol or any dangerous or offensive article, or, except with the consent of the driver, bring into the bus any cumbersome article or place any such article elsewhere in or on the bus other than as directed by the driver;
  8. bring any animal into the bus without the consent of the driver or retain any animal in or on the bus after being requested by the conductor to remove it, or place the animal elsewhere in the bus other than as directed by the driver;
  9. enter or attempt to enter or alight or attempt to alight from any bus whilst in motion;
  10. enter or attempt to enter the bus when requested by the driver not to enter the bus if the bus is carrying the full number of persons which it is authorised to carry.

Powers of drivers and conductors:

87.

  1. Any passenger contravening regulation 86 may be requested to leave the bus or may be removed therefrom by a police officer at the request of the driver, conductor or Transport Inspector.
  2. A passenger in or on a bus who is reasonably suspected by the driver or conductor or a Transport Inspector of contravening sub-regulation (1) shall give his full name and address to a police officer or the driver or conductor or a Transport Inspector on demand.

Luggage to be carried free:

88.

  1. No charge shall be made for any luggage carried on a route bus by a passenger.
  2. The driver or conductor of a bus may refuse to carry any luggage which might endanger or soil the bus beyond fair wear and tear.

Calypso Transport Limited

Conditions for the free carriage of senior citizens.

  1. The ONLY valid document that entitle Senior citizens free carriage on our buses are Smart Cards as issued by Calypso Transport Limited.
  2. Senior citizens not in possession of the Smart Card mentioned above will be required to pay the standard pensioner fare.
  3. Senior citizens will queue with any other passengers waiting to board the bus and will tap their Smartcard on the ETM machine on entry.
  4. Route 5 - An inward journey is from the Frontier Terminus to Reclamation Road or any stop along that route and the outward journey will commence as from Reclamation Road to the Frontier Terminus or any stop along that route. Passengers will be required to alight at the end of each journey but may re-board the bus for a return journey.
  5. Route 10 - An inward journey is from the Frontier Terminus to Boyd Street or any stop along that route and the outward journey will commence as from Boyd Street to the Frontier Terminus or any stop along that route. Passengers will be required to alight at the end of each journey but may re-board the bus for a return journey.
  6. As with any other passenger using our service, any senior citizen whose manner, language or behaviour is abusive or offensive towards any Calypso Transport Limited employee will be asked to leave the bus and if he/she refuses the driver will stop the bus and the police will be called to attend.
