The Skywalk

  • Routes: 10 9 2 3 4 7

The Skywalk is a thrilling tourist attraction located at the summit of the Rock of Gibraltar. It is a glass-bottomed platform that extends from the natural promontory, offering visitors a unique and awe-inspiring experience. The Skywalk was officially opened in 2018 and has quickly become one of Gibraltar's most popular destinations. It provides panoramic views of Gibraltar, the surrounding waters, and the picturesque landscape stretching across the Strait of Gibraltar to the African continent.

The platform is suspended over a sheer drop, allowing visitors to experience the sensation of walking on air. The glass flooring offers an exhilarating perspective, with a view straight down to the rocky cliffs below. From this vantage point, visitors can marvel at the impressive heights of the Rock and gain a deeper appreciation of its natural beauty. In addition to the breathtaking views, the Skywalk also features informative panels that provide insights into the geology, flora, fauna, and historical significance of the Rock of Gibraltar. It offers a chance to learn about the diverse ecosystems and the importance of Gibraltar as a migratory route for birds.

The Skywalk is easily accessible, with shuttle buses available to transport visitors to the summit of the Rock. It is part of a broader visitor experience that includes other attractions such as St. Michael's Cave and the Barbary Macaques, Gibraltar's famous resident monkeys. For those seeking a thrilling adventure and unparalleled vistas, the Skywalk in Gibraltar offers an unforgettable experience. It combines natural beauty, engineering marvel, and educational elements to create an attraction that showcases the magnificence of the Rock and its surrounding landscapes.

If you have purchased the Hopper bus ticket you can use any of the Routes available in Gibraltar as many times as you need throughout the day.

The Gibraltar Skywalk is located at the top of the rock of Gibraltar, at 400m above Sea level, so the easiest way to access the upper rock is by taking the Cable Car from the base station close to the Alameda Gardens. Once at the top you will need to walk to the Skywalk and any other Gibraltar Attractions you choose to visit within the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.

There are various bus Routes that will take you to the Cable Car base Station. If you have come in through the frontier or have arrived on a flight to Gibraltar airport, or even have stopped at Gibraltar Port on a cruise liner, and have purchased our hopper bus ticket, you can get the Citibus Route 5 or Route 10 straight into the market place in the town centre where you can then jump on to the connecting Routes.

If you catch Route 2, Route 3 or Route 7, your closest bus stop to the Cable Car will be Elliott’s Way right by the Italian Restaurant Mamma Mia, only a few metres away from the Cable Car Base Station.  The other two bus Routes available that will take you right to the Cable Car are Routes number 4 and 9, the bus stop you must look out for, is called Alameda House and stops just outside the Cable Car base Station.

All these Routes are available from Market Place which is the central bus station and main connection point, but if you opt to walk around town centre along Main Street, there are other bus stops throughout the outskirts of the town city centre where you will also be able to jump on to these bus Routes.
